A tale of two halves in this cracking friendly. Crystal Palace went in at half time 3-0 up thanks to two bits of shocking defending and a 25 yard screamer. But Barnet really got hold of  this Palace side in the second half and were unlucky not to get a draw. I didn`t realize how much the pitch slopes down towards the South stand

A great win for Palace but to be honest Southampton were shocking and defensive mistakes gave Palace the 3 points. The biggest cheer was for a supporter who came on the pitch to have a go at the Saints defence, but despite the result the atmosphere was pretty good as you`d expect for the opening game. St Mary`s is easy to find as it`s well signposted throughout the town.

 

All the goals came in the first half and City must be wondering how they didn`t win. Even the stadium announcer started playing the goal celebration after an amazing double miss which ended with Lee Trundle`s 5 yard effort hitting the keeper then the post. Took about half an hour to walk from the coach station to the ground. 

A couple of shots from our opening games of the season against Fulham and Man City. The media had already written us off before a ball was kicked but we are already 5 points better off than we were at the same stage last season and apart from Jens mistakes we would have had 5 clean sheets. I said at the start of the season we will prove a lot of people wrong and we haven`t hit top gear yet
